Muna is a screening you do yourself, on your phone, in the language of a friend who happens to be a clinician. Here is exactly what happens, and what it does not do.
About forty questions, most of them one tap: your mouth, your heart, your blood sugar, how you sleep and eat and move, and your family’s history. Women are asked a few more. Most people finish in five minutes.
If you choose, you then take four guided photos of your mouth: front teeth, upper gums, lower gums, tongue. Today these photos are used, with your separate consent, to teach Muna to read the mouth. They do not yet change your score. We will say so here when they do.

Your answers become one score out of 100. Higher is healthier. It sits in one of three bands: Healthy, Moderate or High risk.
Under it, a breakdown by domain: oral health, cardiovascular, metabolic, wellbeing, and reproductive health where it applies. Each in plain words. Then the three answers that moved your score most, so you know what to work on first.
The score is worked out by a fixed set of rules written and signed off by our clinicians, not by a model that learns from you. If you think it is wrong, you can ask a clinician to review it from the app, and we answer within five working days.
80 out of 100, Healthy. Metabolic is the one to work on. That is the whole result, in one glance.

Every result ends in a recommendation, not a worry: a dental visit, baseline blood work, a wellness call, or a change you can make this week. Nothing Muna shows you is a diagnosis.
When blood work is the right step, you leave your number and a member of the Muna team arranges it with a partner lab near you, at the Muna rate. You pay the lab directly. Your results come back into the app, so your next screening knows them.

A screening you forget by Friday does nothing. So every day Muna asks five quick questions, about a minute, and explains the answer every time, right or wrong. Myth or fact, pick one, put them in order, match the pairs.
Team up with a colleague and see who got more right. Climb a monthly league for your organisation. Keep a streak, with a freeze banked for the day you miss. Earn XP, levels and achievements for learning. None of it costs money, and none of it is about anyone’s health.
After a score, Muna names the domain to work on and tailors the tip of the day to it. An evening reminder at 8pm, which you can switch off.

A streak that dies the first time life happens teaches people to stop. Muna banks a freeze for every seven days in a row, and a day you miss can be mended by finishing the next round before noon. Building a habit is the point, not punishing a lapse.

A high risk score means it is worth seeing someone, not that you have a condition. A healthy score does not mean you have none.
Muna has not been assessed by a medical device regulator and does not claim to be one.
It points you to one. If something in your mouth worries you, an ulcer that does not heal, a lump, bleeding that will not stop, see a dentist or doctor now, whatever Muna says.
We are checking the score against examinations in the chair and blood results, and we publish what we find on the science page.
